The Humantay lagoon is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Peru. It is located at 4200 meters above sea level. It is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Cusco. Its turquoise waters crowned by the imposing Salkantay snow-capped mountain give it a unique beauty.
The Humantay lagoon is located 1 hour and a half walk from the community of Soraypampa, in the district of Mollepata, province of Anta, department of Cusco.
How to get to the humantay lagoon?
Taking the tour with a travel agency is the safest and most recommended, since they will pick you up from the hotel in the early morning from 4:00 to 5:00 am and the trip begins by tourist transportation. On the route they will pass through various towns and hamlets until the town of Limatambo. From that point they will ascend towards the town of Mollepata. Place where you have breakfast and thus continue the trip to Soraypampa.
Arriving at Soraypampa, we begin a walk to the Humantay lagoon with a duration of 1 hour and a half upon reaching the beautiful Humantay lake where we can see beautiful landscapes and a view of the Salkantay snow-capped mountain. Take into consideration that the residents of the area rent horses for the ascent in case any difficulty arises during the trip.
The descent is much faster and is done on foot, using the same route. It takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The tourist transport will be waiting in the same place (parking). We return to the city of Cusco along the same route, and we also take the opportunity to have lunch on this route. It depends on the time and programming of the agency.
Being back in Cusco city at approximately 5pm
